Scrabble

Games are won on two-letter words, not on a big vocabulary

A cheap board, two to four players, and rules learned in ten minutes. Taken seriously it becomes arithmetic: high scores come from landing on premium squares and hooking short words onto existing ones, not from long words. Clubs and tournaments treat one dictionary as the only referee, and memorising the two-letter list is step one. Online play exists and moves at a completely different pace.

First stepLearn the list of two-letter words, play one game, and look for a premium square on every turn before anything else.
