Music
Hand Drums
Played with hands, quiet enough for a flat, and tone comes from placement
Unlike a kit this is quiet and takes no space: one drum between your knees and no room to rent. Tone comes from placement rather than force, with a low note at the centre and a crack at the rim, so one drum yields several voices. It starts quickly; holding a tempo without accelerating is the hard part.
First stepGet a starter djembe, find the bass in the centre and the slap at the rim, and hold one pattern steady against a metronome.
