Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

All on the ground, no striking, and tapping out is just information

The contrast with boxing is that nobody gets hit: it happens on the ground, and position and leverage make the other person tap. A tap is information rather than defeat, a dozen in one session is normal, and a beginner spends the first year being controlled. A gi is the main purchase. The fatigue is unusual: not breathless, just empty.

First stepGo to a trial class in a T-shirt and shorts, and leave knowing one escape and one submission.
