Boxing
Footwork and conditioning first; hitting people comes much later
A trial class comes first; after that a monthly membership and a pair of hand wraps is enough, and gyms usually have gloves. The first months barely involve another person: shadow work, ladders, bags, rope, and what you build is footwork and conditioning. Sparring is optional rather than a rite of passage, and plenty of people never do it. The intensity is near the top here.
First stepTake a trial class at a boxing gym with your own hand wraps: stance, jab and footwork, no sparring.
