Incense Appreciation
Nothing is set alight: charcoal warms the wood through a thin mica plate
A session is slow: you sit, warm one sliver of wood, and follow how its smell changes as it heats. The censer, ash and mica plate are a modest one-off, while agarwood and sandalwood are sold by the gram and are where the money actually goes. What you train is scent memory, since only a smell you have named is one you will recognise again.
First stepTake a trial incense appreciation class and learn to bury the charcoal, shape the ash and set the mica plate that warms the wood.
