Succulents & Cacti

Even more easily overwatered, and poor light stretches them out of shape

They sit at the extreme end of the houseplant rule: adapted to drought, they want much longer intervals between waterings and a fast-draining gritty mix, since standard potting soil is slow drowning. Their own particular failure is etiolation, stretching pale and leggy in weak light, and a stretched plant never recovers its shape.

First stepBuy two succulents and a bag of gritty mix, repot them onto your brightest sill, water every two weeks, and check after a month for stretching.
