A notebook is the entire investment; the stamps sit at station counters, visitor centres and museum desks, mostly free. It is really a walking hobby, twenty or thirty thousand steps in a day, and collecting drags you into places you would never otherwise go. Most of the interest is in routing, because limited and seasonal stamps have time windows and a full set has to be planned around them.
