Craft & Handwork
Glassblowing
Gather molten glass from the furnace and shape it, turning, as you blow
This only happens in a studio: the furnace runs year-round and there is no home version. A two or three hour taster produces a small cup or a float, with an instructor's hands on it throughout. The bench is hot, and most steps need a second pair of hands, one person turning the pipe while the other blows, so it is social by construction.
First stepBook a taster class at a glass studio and, with the instructor guiding every step, blow a small ornament or cup.
