Craft & Handwork
Pottery
Wet clay takes shape in your hands; the kiln makes it permanent
A two-hour taster at a studio is enough to pull a bowl, but you will not hold the finished thing for two or three weeks: it has to be bisque-fired, glazed, then fired again. Most people arrive assuming pottery means the wheel, when hand-building and slab work sit right alongside it and you will meet all three. The money goes on studio time and firing, not on clay.
First stepBook a taster session at a pottery studio, throw or pinch one small bowl, and go back two or three weeks later to collect it fired.
