Thrifting
Frequency beats taste: what matters is how often you go
The hit rate comes from frequency: stock turns over weekly and coming away with nothing eight times in ten is normal, so it works as something done in passing rather than a dedicated trip. Decide what you actually need first, or you accumulate things bought only because they were cheap. Learn to check seams and stains fast.
First stepWrite down three things you actually need, stop by the same thrift shop once a week, and look only for those three, for a month.
