Vintage Clothing
Read era from cut and labels, not just from age
The difference from ordinary second-hand is dating: cut, stitching, care labels and zipper brands are all clues, and reading them is what keeps you from paying vintage prices for a reproduction. Sizing cannot be taken at face value, since decades-old numbers mean something else, so measure. Factor alterations and cleaning into the price.
First stepTake a tape measure to a vintage shop, look at only one kind of garment such as denim jackets, date one by its label and zip, and measure before you buy.
