Dioramas

Build one small scene on a baseboard, and let it imply a story

Unlike building a kit, the subject here is the setting rather than the object in it, and foam board, plaster, scatter and a few small props will start you off. Scale and restraint are the hard parts: the smaller the base, the more has to come out, because a crowded scene stops telling a story. Weathering and light are what sell it as real.

First stepOn a postcard-sized foam base, use plaster, static grass and one or two figures to build a scene that tells a single story.
