Calligraphy & Hand Lettering
Press on the downstroke, lift on the upstroke: the pen's angle does the rest
Instead of a brush you use a broad-edge nib, a pointed dip pen or a brush pen, and the thick and thin come from a fixed nib angle or from pressure. A chisel-tip marker or a single brush pen is the cheapest start. The usual mistake is writing too fast; every stroke should be slow enough to control. Fill pages with drills before letters.
First stepBuy a brush pen and a practice pad, fill one page with thin-up, thick-down strokes, then write the lowercase alphabet once.
