Horse Riding

Learn to sit first; steering the horse comes later

Stables charge by the lesson and the horse and tack are theirs, so you can ride for years without owning one. The first lessons are almost entirely about sitting still, because an unstable body turns every instruction into noise. It is more tiring than it looks and your thighs will know it. A helmet is not negotiable.

First stepBook a first lesson at a riding school and, on a lead rein, learn to mount, dismount and ask the horse to halt.
