Roller Skating

No season and no rink: the pavement downstairs is enough

Skates and pads are the whole entry, with no season and no rink, which is where it beats ice skating. Learn to stop before you learn to roll, because nobody accelerates without brakes. Tarmac is harder than ice and a fall costs more, so wrist guards and a helmet are not optional. Most cities have skate groups that turn out on plazas after dark.

First stepAt a rink session, rent skates and pads and learn the T-stop before anything else; speed comes once you can stop on your own.
