Singing

The hardest step is hearing what you actually sound like

It costs nothing, and the hardest step is counter-intuitive: hearing yourself. What reaches your ears while singing arrives through bone and differs sharply from what anyone else hears, so recording and playing it back is where progress actually begins. Pitch is trained rather than innate, and singing off-key is usually mishearing.

First stepRecord yourself singing a song you know, play it back next to the original, and mark three places where you drift off pitch.
