A bat, a glove, and for most adults a slow-pitch softball league
Softball is baseball's sibling, not its women's version: a bigger ball, an underhand pitch and a smaller field. For most adults the way in is a slow-pitch league, often mixed, where the pitch is slow enough to hit and signing up gets you placed on a team. Catching and throwing come first; hitting comes later. A glove is enough to begin.
First stepFind a rec slow-pitch league that takes beginners, go to one practice, and catch ten fly balls in a borrowed glove.
