The line from magic is clean: nothing is concealed and nobody needs to be fooled, because looking good is the entire point. That makes it closer to a manual skill sport, fully practisable alone with no audience. One deck is enough and decks wear out fast, which is the only running cost. Practise over a bed and pick up fewer cards.
