Stand-up Paddleboarding
On flat water you will be standing and paddling the first time
The difference from surfing is the water: on a calm lake or harbour almost everyone stands and paddles away on the first attempt. An inflatable board rolls into a car boot, which makes it far more practical than a hard one. Wind is the real variable — easy downwind out, hard work back — so check direction first.
First stepRent a board on a calm lake, paddle out on your knees, and stand up for the trip back to shore.
