Kitesurfing
The power is up in the sky; you are just the end being dragged
Lessons are not optional: a kite out of control drags a person up the beach or into whatever is behind them. The order is flying the kite on land, then in the water, then standing on the board. Gear is a real outlay, and you wait on wind, since too little means nothing happens and too much means you stay ashore. Checking forecasts becomes daily.
First stepBook lessons at a kite school; day one is flying a trainer kite on the sand and learning the quick release, not riding.
