Improv Theatre

No script, and the rule is to accept whatever you are handed

Unlike scripted theatre there is nothing to learn: what class drills is acceptance, taking whatever your partner offers and adding to it, because denying it kills the scene. So it trains listening and reaction rather than joke-telling, and being funny is a by-product. Beginner courses run a few weeks and the cohort becomes your group.

First stepSign up for a beginner improv course, or first try a free drop-in jam, and use "yes, and" in one scene.
