Paragliding

Take a tandem flight first, then decide whether to train

The order is clear: fly tandem with an instructor once, which is enough to tell whether you want this, and only then pay for training, which is the real expense. It behaves more like a weather hobby than an extreme sport, since much of the time is spent on a hillside waiting for wind that may never arrive.

First stepBook a tandem flight with an instructor at a paragliding site, ask about the training path while you're up there, and decide on the course afterwards.
