No live bait: cast, retrieve, and keep walking the bank
The opposite of sitting and waiting: you are moving constantly, casting and retrieving, using the lure's action to imitate an injured fish, and covering kilometres of bank in a day. So it is not a static hobby, and shoes and a pack matter more than a chair. Lures get lost steadily, which is the running cost.
First stepGet a starter rod and reel with a few soft plastics, walk the bank casting as you go, and try three retrieve speeds over the same stretch.
