Snowboarding

Both feet on one board, and the first two days are mostly falling

The inverse of skiing: the first two days genuinely hurt, your balance is nowhere, and tailbone and wrists take the impact, so wrist guards and padded shorts earn their money before anything but a helmet. Past the point where you can link turns, progress comes fast. Rent the board; tickets and travel are the ongoing cost.

First stepRent a board, wear wrist guards and padded shorts, take a group lesson, and side-slip the beginner run on your heel edge.
