Macramé

A handful of knots, repeated in patterns, into hangings and net bags

No needle and no tools: a reel of cotton cord and a dowel is the whole setup. There are only three or four knots worth memorising, and everything else is arrangement and tension, so a first plant hanger takes an hour or two. Cord disappears faster than expected, and a mid-sized wall hanging can eat tens of metres.

First stepTie a roll of cotton cord to a door handle, learn the half knot, and repeat it into a twisted spiral twenty centimetres long.
