Soap Making
Stir oil and lye to a pudding, pour it, then wait a month before it touches skin
Oil and a lye solution get stirred until they thicken, then poured and left to set. After cutting, the bars still need four to six weeks to cure, because fresh soap is far too alkaline to use. Sodium hydroxide burns skin and eyes, so gloves and goggles are not optional and everything gets weighed, never estimated. Past that, it is colour and scent.
First stepWearing gloves and goggles, make one small batch of cold-process soap from a weighed recipe, cut it, and let it cure four weeks before use.
