Jump Rope
One rope, two square metres, and ten minutes will wreck you
A rope and two square metres, portable enough for a backpack, and far harder than most people expect: ten unbroken minutes is a heavy load for a beginner. Calves and Achilles need a few weeks to adapt, so work in five-minute sets rather than pushing through. Watch your floor and ceiling; concrete and low rooms both limit you.
First stepGet an adjustable speed rope, size it so the handles reach your armpits with one foot on the middle, and string together a hundred basic bounces.
