Motorcycling

Take the training course; the first year is when people crash

Take a proper training course before buying a bike; that order removes the most dangerous part of the learning curve. Gear is not an accessory but part of the requirement — helmet, gloves, armour — and deserves its own line in the budget. Start small rather than powerful, because statistically the first year is the riskiest.

First stepSign up for a certified motorcycle training course in a borrowed or new helmet and gloves, and stay off public roads until you hold the licence.
