RC Planes

No auto-hover here: every landing is one you fly yourself

Unlike a quadcopter, a fixed-wing plane must keep moving forward, so there is no pausing mid-air to think; turns and landings have to be planned ahead. Most first solo flights end in a crash, which is why beginners practise on a simulator and then fly with a club member on a buddy-box trainer cord. Foam trainers glue back together.

First stepPractise take-offs and landings on a simulator with a real transmitter, then fly a foam trainer at a local club with an experienced pilot on the buddy cord.
