Making Comics

The hard part is not drawing well but deciding how many panels this page gets

The pens and paper carry over from sketching, but the craft does not: how many panels a page holds, how the eye travels across it, which frame gets the space, where a speech balloon sits without covering a face. Comic board, screentone and comic nibs are their own aisle of the stationery shop, and a tablet does not remove those decisions. The usual wall is finishing one complete short story.

First stepDraw a four-panel strip on one sheet: setup, turn, reaction, payoff, with speech balloons that don't cover any faces.
