Make a small board read a sensor and then control something

A board and a bag of components is a cheap way in, and the first project is usually a blinking light, then reading a sensor, then driving a motor. It connects code to the physical world, and that feedback feels unlike pure software. Wiring mistakes destroy boards, so prototype on a breadboard before soldering anything.

First stepGet a starter board and a component kit, wire it up on a breadboard, and make one LED blink in a pattern you wrote.
