No drawing tablet is needed, a mouse is enough, and the software is free, making it the lowest barrier in digital art. Its limits are the point: a small canvas and few colours turn every pixel and every shade into a decision. Anti-aliasing and palette choice are the two things you have to study, and large images are oddly easier than tiny ones.
